The Falls Chamber of Commerce 2022 Business Award Winners: Educator, Citizen, Business, and Non-Profit of the Year

Somersworth, NH— The Falls Chamber of Commerce announced Jennifer Hickey, a first grade teacher at Idlehurst Elementary School, has been named the Chamber’s 2022 Educator of the Year at their Winter Gala Annual Awards Dinner. The Winter Gala took place on Thursday, December 1st.  

Elizabeth Cocco, Principal of Idlehurst Elementary School, said, “Mrs. Hickey has been shaping the lives of first graders at Idlehurst Elementary School, in Somersworth School District, for the last 20 years. I can say with confidence, Jennifer is the true representation of our school, community, and faculty. The loyalty and passion she has shown towards our school and community exemplifies what an Educator of the Year looks like.” 

More Award Winners 

The Chamber honored Robin Comstock, Somersworth Economic Development Manager, as citizen of the year stating, Her last day with the City Hall  is nearing and the Falls Chamber would like to thank her for her support over the years. Her creative thoughts on how to get things accomplished and ability to connect the dots between different types of folks working towards the same goals is truly remarkable.”  

In addition to the Educator and Citizen of the Year Awards, the Chamber awarded two additional awards for the Business and Non- Profit of the Year. 

The Chamber announced Great Falls Construction as the winner of this year’s Business of the Year Award.  

“Their work on the Edge Development in Berwick has been truly incredible,” said Emerson Doiron, Executive Director of the Falls Chamber, during her speech at the event. “The Great Falls Construction mission is ‘constructing and developing with a purpose’ and that mission is being honored in the most impressive way with the Edge.”  

Julie Curran, Great Falls Construction Business Development Manager, stated “Once fully constructed the Edge site will have 12 buildings, 265 apartments, and approximately 39 commercial units, making it one of the newest and largest contiguous Village center sites in the Falls region.”  

The Chamber announced Cornerstone VNA as the The Non-Profit of the Year award winner.  

Executive Director Doiron stated, “Chances are this nonprofit has touched you personally or has made a difference in the lives of those around you including your family, your friends, and your neighbors. And since this organization will be turning 110 in 2023, there’s a very good chance that they have cared for your loved ones across several generations. Today, they provide specialized care through five distinct programs: Home Care, Hospice Care, Palliative Care, Life Care – Private Duty, and Community Care.”  

The 2022 Winter Gala Business Awards Dinner was underwritten by Service Credit Union and sponsored by Profile Bank, Palmer Gas and Oil, Tri-City Christian Academy, Breezeline, Edward Jones, Tri-City Masonry, Keller Williams Realty Riley Bacon, Somersworth Storage, and Tri-City Subaru, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram.
